As part of our ongoing efforts to understand and address the root causes of child trafficking, the Mwagale Foundation recently undertook a field visit to Karamoja, one of the regions in Uganda most affected by child trafficking.
Our findings were deeply concerning. In Karamoja, many families are grappling with extreme poverty, severe water shortages, and inadequate sanitation, creating harsh living conditions that push children into vulnerable situations. These challenges contribute significantly to the trafficking of children from Karamoja to the streets of Kampala, where they are often exploited and denied basic rights.
By documenting and sharing these realities, we aim to raise awareness, influence policy, and advocate for meaningful change. Addressing the lack of essential services in regions like Karamoja is a critical step in protecting children and breaking the cycle of exploitation and poverty.
At Mwagale Foundation, we remain committed to being a voice for the vulnerable and a catalyst for sustainable solutions.
Together, we can #EndTrafficking and create safer communities for every child.
