At the heart of Lotome Girls Primary School in Karamoja, a quiet revolution is unfolding, a place where once-vulnerable children are now finding safety, education, and renewed hope. Mwagale Foundation is honored to stand alongside this remarkable institution, working to transform the lives of children rescued from the streets of cities like Kampala and Nairobi.
During our recent visit, we were warmly welcomed by Headmistress Madam Naume, who shared inspiring stories of transformation. Many of the children have begun to reclaim their childhoods, once lost to hardship and displacement. However, she also spoke candidly about ongoing challenges that hinder the care and development of these children:
- Limited food supply
- Lack of basic necessities
- Operational gaps within the school
- Inadequate medical support
- Shortage of beds and proper sleeping arrangements
Despite these obstacles, hope continues to grow.
Introducing the Anti-Human Trafficking Club: “Break the Silence, Stop the Stigma”
In response to these challenges and the urgent need for awareness, Mwagale Foundation proudly launched an Anti-Human Trafficking Club at the school under the powerful theme:
“Break the Silence, Stop the Stigma.”
This club aims to empower students through:
- Knowledge about the realities and dangers of human trafficking
- Skills that foster resilience, self-worth, and independence
- Leadership development, turning students into ambassadors of courage in their communities
