National Day of Prayer and Awareness on Trafficking in Persons

Theme: Human Trafficking is Organized Crime – End the Exploitation
Date: 12th September 2025
Venue: Sharing Youth Centre, Nsambya

The National Day of Prayer and Awareness on Trafficking in Persons is a united call to confront one of the gravest human rights violations of our time. Human trafficking continues to affect Uganda both internally and externally through forced labour, sexual exploitation, and deceptive recruitment schemes that lure young people into exploitation abroad.

This national day provides a unique platform for reflection, prayer, and collective responsibility. Led by His Grace Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere, Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese, together with faith leaders, government representatives, civil society organisations, and the wider community, the gathering seeks to:

  • Raise awareness about the realities of human trafficking in Uganda.
  • Stand in solidarity with survivors and affirm their dignity.
  • Call on all stakeholders: families, communities, religious institutions, and the government to take decisive action against trafficking.
  • Strengthen moral and spiritual resolve to end exploitation in all its forms.

The event will also feature a Vigil on 11th September 2025 at Christ the King Parish, Kampala, starting at 5:00 pm, creating space for communities to unite in prayer and reflection ahead of the main event.

Together, let us say: Stop Human #Trafficking #End the #Exploitation.
