It was such a great honor to participate in the Global Consultation Conference on Modern Day Slavery organized by the Council for World Mission (CWM) in Bangkok, Thailand.

The conference involved intensive Bible studies reflecting on slavery through a theological lens. A key reflection emerged from the Book of Esther—examining how society often overshadows the enslaved.

Viewing Esther through the perspective of the enslaved provides a profound lesson: as leaders rise to influence, we must never become part of the oppressors or forget those still trapped in bondage. We must actively dismantle policy frameworks that perpetuate slavery.

As a Christian and survivor advocate fighting modern-day slavery, this conference challenged and rebuilt my approach to community transformation and global advocacy.

Special thanks to my mentor Rev. Dr. Lesmore Gibson Ezekiel for his unwavering support, guidance, and inspiration.

To CWM: May your dedication to restoring human dignity continue to transform lives worldwide. Mwagale Foundation remains committed to taking these lessons forward to build a world free from modern slavery.
