As part of our ongoing efforts to understand and address the root causes of child trafficking, Mwagale Foundation recently undertook a field visit to Karamoja, one of Uganda's regions most severely affected by child vulnerability.

Our findings were deeply concerning: families across Karamoja are grappling with extreme poverty, severe water shortages, and inadequate sanitation infrastructure.

These harsh environmental and socioeconomic conditions create desperate push factors that drive children into vulnerable situations, fueling trafficking from Karamoja to the streets of Kampala where they face severe urban exploitation.

By documenting and sharing these realities, Mwagale Foundation aims to raise public awareness, influence government social policy, and advocate for sustainable community interventions.

Addressing the lack of essential services and clean water infrastructure in Karamoja is a critical preventive step in protecting children and breaking systemic cycles of exploitation.

At Mwagale Foundation, we remain committed to being an unwavering voice for the vulnerable and a catalyst for sustainable solutions across Uganda.
